Before being able to assist students or recommend books for them, it's crucial to know their skill levels. Scholastic Reading Inventory Interactive is a literature-based, computer-adaptive reading assessment tool for students in grades 1-12. In this 20-minute assessment test, the difficulty of each question is determined by the student's response to the previous question, until an accurate level is identified. Each student receives a Lexile score and an individualized reading list to match his or her reading level and interests. Assessment results correlate to established norms and widely used standardized tests.
SRI Interactive bases its assessments on comprehension of authentic literature passages, rather than just vocabulary. Comprehensive summaries of student progress allow educators to produce more than 15 customizable reports to help monitor reading growth, adjust reading instruction, guide independent reading , and support home/school communications.
