Responsibilities for Applications Specialist
- Develop, lead, and direct the ongoing development and support of an enterprise data warehouse platform.
- Estimate team level timelines and technical efforts for planning purposes.
- Manage relationships with major vendors and service providers to ensure they cost-effectively meet the needs of the organization.
- Application development, modification, and maintenance of applications.
- Product training and demonstrations (travel required to customer sites).
- Provide troubleshooting, coaching and training for team members to enhance ability to handle similar situations in the future.
- Handle time-sensitive audit requests and see them to completion.
- Participate in on-call rotation and after hours work as required.
- Help with lab maintenance, including staying compliant with safety standards and inspections, ordering lab supplies, and completing paperwork.
- Follow-up with the client when NSF checks come back to ensure a replacement payment is processed.
- Manage deliverables by working with vendor resources within budget, maintenance, and quality.
- Analyze and prepare data for both oral presentations and publications in scientific journals.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve technical and functional software issues.
- Conduct code reviews, code quality checks and developer integration testing.
- Post daily receipts on a timely basis to ensure accurate maintenance of accounts receivable balances.
- Analyze customer ledger records to ensure proper allocations have occurred so that reports and general ledger accounting are accurate.
Qualifications for Applications Specialist
- Bachelor's or Graduate's Degree in business administration, computer science, engineering or information technology or equivalent experience.
- Experience with SQL, AutoCAD, and PLM software and systems.
- Prior experience as a consultant.
- Demonstrated problem solving and leadership skills.
- Sound time management and an eye on continuous improvement.
- Demonstrated fluency in product knowledge.
- Can collaborate with team members and clients when appropriate.
